Speaking after the meeting with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoðlu, former President of Kurdistan Regional Government and the KDP Deputy Chairman Nechirvan Barzani supported AKP’s policies and remarked that they would develop the cooperation with Turkey.

Barzani stated that Iran condemned the attack in Çukurca district of Hakkari and added that “These actions should never cause deterioration in the relations of Kurdish and Turkish sides. We are together with Turkey. While it grabbed attention that Barzani often laid emphasis on “togetherness with Turkey, he also gave the message that meetings would be more frequent in the coming days. Barzani noted that the main agenda of today’s meeting with Davutoðlu was the clash in Çukurca and what would be afterwards.

In his speech Barzani praised the policies of the AKP and argued that Kurds appreciated these policies. Barzani said; “These are courageous steps. We believe that the Kurdish people can evaluate these steps bravely and take advantage of them.

"Iraq's constitution does not allow anyone on our lands to do something against its neighbor” said Barzani and continued as follows; “Turkey helped the people of Kurdistan in their bad day. We appreciate and do not forget this. We will develop cooperation in all areas with Turkey.”
