The celebration held in the centre of Madrid to mark Kurdish New Year, Newroz, was attended by people from four parts of Kurdistan as well as friends of the Kurdish people.

The politicians participating in the event made speeches and evaluated the fascist Turkish state's attacks on Kurdistan and the election process. Stating that the Kurdish Freedom Movement and its values must be protected, the speakers stated that the 2024 Newroz will be the Newroz of freedom and that the end of the fascist chief Erdoğan has come.

The speakers also pointed out that the Freedom Movement has frustrated the tactics and techniques of the occupying Turkish army, citing the announcement by the HPG Central Headquarters Command that the guerrillas had shot down 15 Turkish armed drones with surface-to-air missiles over South Kurdistan between 13 February 2023 and 1 March 2024.

Solidarity messages were also given in the statements made on behalf of the international movement.

The Newroz event continued with songs sung by Hozan Kawa, Kawa Urmiyê and Şerîf Omerî. The celebration lasted for about four hours and ended with Kurdish traditional dance and slogans.
