The Kurdish national holiday Newroz was celebrated with a night in Trondheim, Norway.

Trondheim Mayor Kent Ranum also took part in the event attended by Kurds from the four parts of Kurdistan as well as by Norwegians.

The Newroz event, organized by the Trondheim Kurdistan Culture Association with the slogan "Freedom for Leader Apo" [Abdullah Öcalan], started with a minute's silence in memory of the Kurdistan Freedom Martyrs.

Kurdish politician Adem Uzun spoke about the historical and current importance of Newroz, while artists Hozan Simar, Murat Küçükavcı, Tirej Urmiye Hamid Osman and Gürsel took the stage.

Activists demanded the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
