On September 10, the Istanbul Public Prosecution banned the Halkýn Günlüðü newspaper for one month. The prosecution ordered the newspaper's 18th issue to be seized and distribution to be halted because it deemed some of the paper's content to be "propaganda for an armed terrorist organization," namely the clandestine Maoist Communist Party (MKP) and the People Liberation Army (HKO), reported the Independent Communication Net (BÝANET).
In response to the ban, the newspaper announced, "The articles and news subject to the ban are dealing with a political development and reflect a social phenomenon. We, as the Halkýn Günlüðü newspaper, will continue to make our contribution from where we are and to fulfill our duty and responsibility to the struggle for a classless society and we will continue to raise our voice against attacks."
