The oath-taking ceremony, which is boycotted completely by the Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block and partially by the CHP (Republican People's Party), has began in the Turkish Parliament.
The oath-taking ceremony in the Parliament started with the opening speech and swear-in of the Parliament's oldest member journalist Oktay Ekþi. While Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block's MP Murat Bozlak was called to the chair after Ekþi, the ceremony continued with the call to other members due to the lack of Murat Bozlak because of the boycott decision of the block. A CHP member, who was called first to the chair, didn't stand up and announced that he will not take his oath. The oath-taking ceremony, which continues with the swear-in of deputies for the AKP(Justice and Development Party) and MHP (Nationalist Movement Party), is expected to continue till late hours.
While the Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block boycotts the opening of the new assembly as the block's six elected deputies aren't released from prison, the CHP participates in the oath-taking ceremony but doesn't take the parliamentary oath to protest against the decision rejecting the release of two detained deputies for the CHP.
