One police died, one other wounded in Van FLASH
An armed attack targeted a police point in the province of Van, wounding two police officers on Monday evening. One of the police officers died on the way to hospital after suffering serious injury in the attack.
The attack at around 21:30 local time was carried out in Vizyontele Container district. A large number police teams were sent to the area where an operation was launched after the attack.
On the other hand, village guard Zümeyra Can was detained by Peoples Defense Forces (HPG) guerrillas in Çatak district of Van on Monday.
The woman village guard was detained in the village of Büyükaðaç, located 15 km away from Çatak district. Cans husband Ýsmail Can, a village guard head in the area, reportedly went after guerrillas after his wifes detention. It is reported that no news has been received from him either.
It is claimed meanwhile that the AKP district chair of Gürpýnar/Van was also taken into custody by HPG guerrillas on Monday evening.
