Panel in Strasbourg to mark Freedom for Öcalan Vigil anniversary

A panel organized by the Öcalan Freedom Initiative was held as part of the events organised for the anniversary of the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil has reached its 7th year, having been launched on 25 June 2012.

Kurdish institutions in Europe have taken over the Vigil the whole week. In addition, various activities were organized during the week. And today a rally will be held in Strasbourg.

Among the initiatives organised was a panel with Kurdish politicians Mustafa Sarıkaya, HDP Batman MP Feleknas Uca and Abdullah Öcalan's lawyer Mazlum Dinç. The panel was organised at Strasbourg Democratic Kurdish Community Center and was titled “Isolation-hunger strikes-the position and message of Öcalan.”

Speaking at the panel was politician Mustafa Sarıkaya, who has been one of the 14 hunger strikers in Strasbourg.

Sarıkaya said that it was the insistence and determination of activists and hunger strikers that finally brought to an end of isolation on Kurdish People's Leader. The Kurdish hunger striker remarked that the action has achieved its goal.

No solution is possible without Öcalan

Mustafa Sarıkaya also touched upon the struggle in four parts of Kurdistan and emphasized that there was a great war waged by Turkey both in North and South Kurdistan.

Referring to the Turkish state and KDP-backed invasion of South Kurdistan, Sarıkaya underlined that this occupation was actually aimed at ending the Rojava Revolution.

Expressing that the Kurdish people should be aware of the real danger of a comprehensive war, Sarıkaya continued: “The war is going on in every field. Everyone understands that a solution without Öcalan is not possible. Because he is the only one able to offer a solution. ”
