Paris martyrs to be buried in their hometowns

Mîr Perwer and Abdurrahman Kızıl, two of the victims of the attack on the Kurdish community in Paris, are to be buried at their homes in Northern Kurdistan, while Evîn Goyî will be laid to rest in the Maxmur refugee camp in southern Kurdistan.

Two of the victims of the attack in Paris on 23 December will be buried in their hometowns in Northern Kurdistan. The body of Kurdish musician Mîr Perwer (Mehmet Şirin Aydın) will be transferred to Muş on Thursday and picked up at the airport of the city by family members and a delegation. In the city, many people are preparing to pay their last respects to the murdered musician.

The body is to be taken in a convoy to Ewran (tr. Yeşilova). A large funeral service is planned in front of the family's house before burial at the local cemetery. The funeral will be attended by DTK (Democratic Society Congress) co-chair Berdan Öztürk and other deputies of the HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party). Messages of condolence will be received by the family in Muş afterwards.

Mîr Perwer was a native of the province of Muş and had not long lived in France, where he had applied for asylum. He had to leave his homeland due to political persecution by the Turkish state. He was active in the HDP and was therefore sentenced to prison by the Turkish judiciary on "terror charges". Most recently, he tried to catch up with his wife and their two children. Mîr Perwer belonged to the Kurdish cultural movement TEV-ÇAND.

Abdurrahman Kızıl was a long-time activist of the Kurdish liberation movement. He was born in Kağızman in 1963 and had to leave Turkey in 2001 due to political persecution. Since then, he lived in France and visited the Ahmet Kaya Cultural Centre in Paris every day.
