Today the parliament will discuss the bill providing legal basis for the isolation of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Families of prisoners held demonstrations against the bill in Ankara, Adana, Siirt, Istanbul and Diyarbakýr on Wednesday.
The families of prisoners pointed out the bill would cause social tension and demanded its cancellation. "The bill is against human rights and will cause thousands to die within the policy of elimination of the government," said Havva Özcan in Ankara on behalf of the Federation of Associations of Help and Solidarity with Families of Prisoners (TUHAD-FED). The demonstrators in Adana, Siirt, Istanbul and Diyarbakýr have called to end the isolation regime of Öcalan and to start negotiations.
