A parliamentary question has been presented to Westminster for Hatip Dicle, who was stripped off of his legal mandate by the YSK, and for the five elected deputies of the Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block who are still detained in prison. The written question supported the efforts for peace and democracy towards a solution to the Kurdish problem.
The written question, which was opened for signature by Wales National Party MP Hywel Williams, has been signed by six deputies so far and is expected to be signed by a large number of MPs.
The names who put signature under the question are; Martin Caton (Labour Party), Jeremy Corbyn (Labour Party), John McDonnell (Labour Party), Alan Meal (Workers Party), Bob Russell (Liberal Democratic Party) and Jim Shannon (Democratic Unionist Party).
The written question, reminding of the success of the Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block at the general elections in Turkey on 12 June 2011, propounded the followings;
"Hatip Dicle, whose candidature was approved by the Supreme Election Board (YSK) before the elections, was stripped off of his legal seat at the parliament by the same institution. For Hatip Dicle and other detained deputies, the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) made a decision on a boycott which led to a crisis that can only reach a solution if the elected MPs are enabled to perform their duty at the Parliament, if the efforts are intensified for peace and democracy to find a solution to the Kurdish problem and if the true representatives of the Kurdish people are addressed in this respect.”
