The people of Van protested the massacre carried out by the Turkish state in Zakho and said that the policies of the KDP were co-responsible for the massacre.
Reactions to the Zakho massacre carried out by the Turkish state continue. Protests and demonstrations against the massacre continue in the cities of Turkey and Kurdistan. The massacre was also protested in Van. Explaining their views on the massacre, the people of Van demanded the KDP put an end to its anti-Kurdish policies.
KDP policies co-responsible of the massacre
Fadıl Barıştıran has been working for Kurdish political parties for many years. He condemned the massacre in Zakho and said that the KDP paved the way for these massacres with its policies.
Barıştıran said: "It is a disgrace to humanity that Nechirvan Barzani poses with the coffin of a small child. When the Roboski Massacre took place, no one in the world said anything. The death of the Kurdish people is the death of all peoples, the resistance put forward by the Kurdish people is an example to the whole world. Yesterday the Kurds, today the Arabs were massacred. Sensitivity should also be shown to the massacres committed against the Kurdish people. Kurds have been massacred in South Kurdistan for years and the KDP does not even mention it. I protest this massacre once again. We protest the KDP's stance on this issue. The policies they implement are dirty policies."
KDP must abandon this cowardly policy
Kurdish politician Halit Tanay agreed that the main issue to be focused on is the policies of the KDP.
"The enemy is the enemy, but it is the policies of the KDP that we need to focus on," said Tanay, adding: "Those who do this evil to their people will never be able to prosper. The KDP is responsible for the massacres inflicted on the Kurds today. These events are the shame of the KDP and Barzani. The policy of cooperation with the enemy does not benefit the Kurds. People are being targeted. Do these things not matter to the KDP? A clear policy on massacres should be followed. In a place where massacres took place, I cannot accept a policy saying 'Both sides should stay away from conflicts'. Kurdish youths are killed; their bodies are sent to their families by post. Why don't you expose this reality? Who came to your aid when ISIS attacked Hewler and Shengal? Barzani held a referendum [on Kurdistan], and saw the attitude of Iran and Turkey. We can also call this attitude cowardice. This is not the way to deal with issues. These policies should be abandoned."
We want massacres to end
Employment Specialist Activist Sinan Ok said: "The Turkey-Iraq border has turned into an artificial border. It is not even clear where sovereignty is. The number of bases and soldiers the Turkish army has is not known. The Zakho massacre once again revealed this situation. Intelligence agencies are running around there. International organizations and all data show that Turkey is responsible for the Zakho massacre.
The fact that the KDP did not follow a policy to prevent such a massacre, paved the way to it. The ongoing conflictual process leads to such deaths. It is known that civilians have lost their lives in the attacks carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces in the region in recent years. As long as the Kurdish problem continues, as long as the conflicts continue, civilian deaths will continue. We want these massacres to end."
