Saplings were planted in Amara as part of the birthday celebrations of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The first groups coming to Amara for the march organized to mark 4 April, Abdullah Öcalan’s birthday, reached the outskirts of Amara (Ömerli) in Urfa.
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Urfa MP Ayşe Sürücü, together with the party's Halfeti District Organization executives and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) members, planted saplings for Abdullah Öcalan's birthday in the Vahna District by the Euphrates River.
Sürücü said that Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan has been under heavy isolation for 23 years.
“With the isolation imposed on Öcalan, our people have been deprived of peace and freedom. Millions took to the streets during Newroz. Once again, they demanded Mr. Öcalan's freedom and the isolation to be lifted. They shouted once again that the way to peace and solution passes through İmralı. We are calling out to state officials once again today: End the isolation, create the conditions for Mr. Öcalan's freedom. The solution to the Kurdish problem is Mr. Öcalan."
During the tree planting, the slogan "Rojbûna tê piroz be ey Serok Apo" was chanted.
Meanwhile, arrivals to Amara continue from many cities, especially Amed, Mardin, Şırnak, Van, Hakkari, Adana and Mersin.
