People's Initiative calls Amed to bring life to a halt for Kobanê

The People's Initiative of Amed has released a statement calling on the people of the city to bring the life to a standstill on Thursday in solidarity with the resistance in the Kobanê canton of West Kurdistan against inhuman gangs calling themselves the Islamic State.

The Initiative put emphasis on the splendid resistance the armed forces and the people of Kobanê are putting against ISIS gangs that are attacking the Kurdish town with all their forces, tanks and artillery.

Remarking that the intervention of international powers didn't go beyong nonfunctional reactions, the People's Initiative underlined that "Nobody will take any action unless the Kurdish people defend themselves. The Kobanê resistance must be present everywhere. The AKP is virtually the same as ISIS."

The Initiative said the people of Amed should bring life to a halt under the leadership of youths and women on 2 October, calling on everyone to flock to the border in order to prevent the crossing of the gangs, and to stage demos at city centre and all the areas they are present in support of the growing Kurdish resistance from Sinjar to Kobanê.
