A petition was launched through virtual networks on 8 May against the Turkish invasion attacks in South Kurdistan.
More than 500 signatures have been collected in 48 hours. Different groups of people, including journalists, writers, lawyers, teachers, academics and political observers, have signed the petition. Many politicians and Iraqi parliamentarians will also join the campaign to support the petition.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, US President Joe Biden, President of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Iraqi President Berhem Salih, Iraqi Council of Ministers President Muhammed Halbusi, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kazımi, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen Calls are made to President of the Arab League Ahmed Ebugeyt, President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani and President of the Kurdistan Region Parliament Rêwaz Fayiq, are all addressed by the petition.
The text said that the Turkish state launched a "wide attack" on the border regions of South Kurdistan, and added: "According to the President of Turkey, the aim is to eliminate the PKK. But in reality this is an attempt to invade South Kurdistan. The Turkish state has been attacking the South Kurdish lands since 1983 with the same excuse. But the reality is that only civilians suffer in these attacks. This attack has a negative impact on the peace, political and economic situation throughout the Kurdistan Region and Iraq."
