PKK's 46th founding anniversary celebrated in guerrilla areas

The 46th anniversary of the PKK’s founding is celebrated with various events in guerrilla areas. The guerrilla stated that they would raise the struggle even more in the 47th year and deal a heavy blow to the invaders.

Today marks the 46th founding anniversary of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) on 27 November 1978 in the village of Fis in Amed (tr. Diyarbakir) province.

Guerrillas are celebrating the 46th anniversary of their party with various events in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

Gülçin Umut, one of the YJA Star commanders, made a speech at a celebration in which dozens of guerrillas participated.

Gülçin Umut congratulated the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the martyrs, all guerrilla forces and peoples on the PKK's 47th year of struggle and said that it is important to celebrate such a day in this important process of struggle.

Drawing attention to the Turkish state officials’ call and plans for liquidation, YJA Star Commander Gülçin Umut said, “The occupying Turkish state, which is making schemes against Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) and the PKK, should know this; the PKK has the ability and power to continue its struggle not only against the occupying Turkish state but against all hegemonic powers. This struggle will continue until the freedom of Kurdistan, the freedom of Kurdish society and the freedom of oppressed peoples is achieved.”

Noting that the PKK has been fighting for freedom for 46 years, commander Gülçin Umut concluded: “We have the power to fight against fascism for another 100 years. On this basis, we will raise the struggle against Turkish fascism until we ensure the freedom of Leader Apo and Kurdistan.”
