People in Dersim said that they did not accept the appointment of the trustee to the municipality and added that they will continue to resist until the decision is reverted.
The protests that started after the appointment of the trustee by the Turkish Ministry of Interior to the Dersim Municipality, which is governed by the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), continue. Citizens told ANF that Dersim, which has never bowed down, would not bow down this time either.
Hebun Aslan said: "The people of Dersim have never bowed down and will not bow down to these trustee policies either. We will be in the squares until we get results. We will stand behind our will."
The will of the people cannot be usurped
Ismet Yıldırım stated that they do not and will not accept those who usurp the will of the people and said: "The will of the people cannot be usurped. We want our municipality back."
A violation of democracy and law
Zeynep Demir said that they actually knew that a trustee would be appointed to Dersim, and added: "The AKP-MHP government has not elected any MPs in Dersim for years. This situation is a great loss for the AKP government. They are trying to ignore our will with oppression and cruelty. The constitution is not being implemented in any way. There is no longer a concept of democracy and freedom in Turkey. Everyone in Turkey needs to take to the streets now."
Dersim will resist
Emphasizing that the people of Dersim have demonstrated their will and resistance against all appointed trustees, Nazlı Çeliköz said: "As the grandchildren of Seyit Rıza and the heirs of a tradition that comes from 1938, we do not accept this trustee. Dersim has never sworn allegiance. Everyone knows this very well. As the children of Dersim, we will continue to resist and struggle."
Condemning the blow to the will of the people, Özgür Karaç said: "It is very painful for something to change with the whip of the law. The peace statements made by the government, unfortunately, do not reflect the truth."
