The vigil set up by the HDP (Peoples' Democracy Party) and HDK (Peoples' Democratic Congress) Youth Assembly in Kalkedon square of the Kadıköy district of Istanbul in order to draw attention to the attacks by the ISIS gangs on Kobanê, and to support the people of Kobanê, was attacked  and the vigil stand was destroyed by the police.

The HDP youth assembly initiated a vigil which will continue until Eid in order to draw attention to the attacks on Kobanê by the ISIS gangs and to support the people of Kobanê. A tent was set up in Kalkedon square by the youths.

After the protest started, 2 fascists with knives in their hands attempted to assault the youths. However, with the intervention of the youths and the shop keepers around the tent, the fascists were taken away from the area. Then the Turkish police surrounded the youths and attacked them. The police attempted to seize the money collected for Kobanê and destroyed the stand.

The youths stated that they will set up the tent again and maintain their protest at the same place.
