Speaking to Turkish TV channel Ulusal in the afternoon, independent journalist Mustafa Aydın said that police has violently attacked the people in Gezi Park without facing any kind of provocation from protestors' side.

The police attack on the park came despite the statements of Istanbul Governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu who said in the morning that police would not practice any kind of action targeting the peaceful protestors in the park area.

Aydın said over a hundred people have been wounded in the police attack. People in the park have asked for urgent provision of gas masks and medical stuff.
