Police this morning raided the house of Nazime Avcı, the co-chair of the Municipality of Kozluk in Batman. After the search Avcı was taken into custody. A heavy police presence and armored vehicles was registered in front of the house.

It has not been established why Avcı was detained. She was taken to Kozluk District Police Department.

Kozluk Municipality passed under the administration of the People's Democratic Party (HDP) in the 31 March 2019 local elections. Ayhan Eren, who was elected co-mayor of Kozluk Municipality, resigned from the HDP and joined the AKP.
