Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Amed Provincial co-chair, Seval Gülmez, was taken into custody by the police this morning.
As part of an investigation carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the police raided the DBP Amed Provincial Organization's building in Bağlar district on 26 January. During the search, which lasted for hours, some magazines, books and newspapers, as well as Free Women's Movement (TJA) flags were seized.
The house of DBP Provincial co-chair Seval Gülmez was also searched last Wednesday, but Gülmez, who was in quarantine at her home at that time due to the Covid-19 epidemic, could not be arrested then. The police went back to her home this morning to arrest her and to take her to the Provincial Security Directorate.
A lawsuit was filed against Gülmez, who had been previously detained along with 26 women as a result of an investigation carried out in the city on 5 April 2021. She was detained on the allegation of "membership in a terrorist organization". Gülmez was released in the first hearing held at the Diyarbakır 11th High Criminal Court on 6 September.
