Police in Van take 20 people, 7 of them children, into custody

Some 20 people, 7 of them children, were taken into custody following house raids in the centre of Van earlier this morning.

Some 20 people, 7 of them children, were taken into custody following raids on many houses in the centre of Van.

An investigation carried out by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was presented as a justification for the police operation.

A 24-hour lawyer restriction, one of the arbitrary and systematic practices employed by the judiciary, was imposed.

On 3 April, 19 people, including HDP Youth Assembly members and Democratic Modernity magazine employee Sema Korkmaz, were detained in Istanbul and Izmir.
