After a 6 month long shortage, the city of Tabqa has power again.
After a 6 month long shortage, the city of Tabqa has power again.
For a long time, the Euphrates Dam which received great damage during the ISIS invasion of the city of Tabqa had to produce electricity at very low capacity, but the Tabqa Civilian Council, which was founded after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fighters took back the area on September 10, 2017 as part of the war against terror, started repairing it.
As a result of the efforts of the Council with a special unit, the dam turbines were repaired and electricity production has picked up again.
As damaged power lines in Al-Mashar and Al-Wahib areas in the Tabqa city center and northern villages of Abû Asî, Mahmûdiyah, Jabar and Siwêdiyê were repaired along with the repairs in the dam, electricity has started flowing again, albeit partially.
Mustefa Hemûd, administrator in the Electricity Works under the Democratic Civilian Administration Council, stated that the neighborhoods are receiving power at 25% capacity now, and efforts continue for the full restoration of electricity distribution.
The Al-Cirniyê district to the north of Tabqa had received power some time ago.
