Prison censoring TV channels

Gün, Amed, Can and TV 21 channels were reportedly blocked in Diyarbakýr E and D-type closed prisons for allegedly favouring 'separatism' with Kurdish-intensive broadcasts.

Giving information to ANF regarding the issue, an anonymous relative of a prisoner told the followings;

"We used to send a SMS to these local Kurdish-broadcasting channels and make Turkish and Kurdish song requests for our relatives in prison to send our loves and longing to them. However, during my last visit, my brother in prison told me that the prison administration let them watch only a single channel and blocked all the local and other TV channels, saying that the channels make 'separatism' and would have impacts on prisoners to rise a rebellion if they watched what is broadcast on these channels.

While the relative showed reaction to the application, prison authorities refused to give us information concerning the subject.
