Prisoner Akhan: Isolation still on, the resistance continues

Ergin Akhan, one of the prisoners who turned his hunger strike into death fast, said that the resistance will not end until the isolation of Öcalan ends.

Ergin Akhan has gone on death fast in Diyarbakır D Type Prison. He said that prisoners are determined to end the isolation with the resistance.

Akhan was born in Bulanık, province of Muş, on 20 March 1988. Akhan attended primary school in the village of Kekeli, secondary school in Bulanik and high school in Izmir. Here he met the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle and dedicated the rest of his life to his people and struggle. Akhan was arrested on 9 October 2015 in the borough of Bağlar in Amed.

He went on hunger strike in Diyarbakır D Type Prison, on 1 March and on 30 April turned his hunger strike into death fast.

Akhan sent a message to ANF through his family.

“We decided to protest the isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. This isolation is imposed on our people trough our leader and is unacceptable. Therefore, it must be brought to an end. We are determined to end this isolation with the resistance of all our friends on hunger strike. So many friends have sacrificed their lives so far, and thousands of our friends are ready to sacrifice themselves. Our determination is very high.”

Akhan's family drew attention to the determination of their children and said: “We give them the right because there is no such law anywhere in the world. We support our children to the end and we are with them. All the hunger strikers are our children.”
