Prisoner coughing up blood: “I will continue my protest”

Gullu Dasci, who has been on a hunger strike in the Mardin Type E Closed Prison against the isolation, started to cough up blood. Dasci announced that she will continue her protest nonetheless.

25 year old Gullu Dasci, one of the prisoners on hunger strike against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan, started to cough up blood.

Dasci has been on a hunger strike in the Mardin Type E Closed Prison since February 20, and today is the 86th day of her hunger strike.

Dasci was issued 12 years in prison from several accusations and has been in prison for 2.5 years. Mother Leyla Dasci (60) went to visit her daughter on May 15 and said her health is critical. Mother Dasci said her daughter is on a hunger strike alongside 14 other prisoners and that she coughed up blood 4 times on Monday May 13. Gullu Dasci has developed stomach ulcers because she rejects treatment. The morale of prisoners is high.

Leyla Dasci said Gullu Dasci is determined to continue her protest until the isolation is ended.
