Prisoners set dormitories on fire in Mardin

Prisoners in Mardin E Type Prison have set fire to four dormitories in protest against the police attack on 14 July freedom rally in Diyarbakýr.

In a statement to press members about the incident, Mardin Lieutenant Governor Müfit Gültekin said that prisoners started fire in four dormitories at around 04:00 on Sunday morning. “One person was injured in the fire which has been taken under control now. Prisoners are said to have started fire to protest yesterday’s meeting in Diyarbakýr but the reports need to be confirmed”, said Governor Gültekin.
