Prosecutor requests removal of immunity for 8 BDP deputies

Diyarbakýr Public Prosecutor has issued a summary for the removal of the parliamentary immunity for eight BDP deputies.

The request has been launched in the context of the so-called “KCK” (Kurdish Communities Union) investigation.

In accordance with Article 314/2 of the Turkish Penal Code, the court issued a summary against BDP co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaþ and Gültan Kýþanak, deputies Emine Ayna, Nursel Aydoðan, Sebahat Tuncel, Ayla Akat Ata, DTK co-chair Ahmet Türk and Aysel Tuðluk for allegedly “being members of KCK organization”.

The audio surveillance records taken in the BDP office for local government in Diyarbakýr and visits to the office were put forward as evidences against deputies who are claimed to have connection with the “KCK” organization. The summary against the deputies was sent to the Ministry of Justice General Directorate of Sanctions which will refer it to the Speaker’s Office of Parliament.

Public Prosecutor of Van issued a summary against BDP MP for Van, Özdal Üçer, on 9 May on the grounds of striking a doctor in Van Training and Research Hospital.

Besides the ongoing arrest of thousands of BDP members since the local elections in 2009, the BDP deputies in the Parliament also have their share of the political pressure on Kurdish politicians. In the first three months of this year alone, 120 summaries were issued against BDP deputies who expressed their demands for democracy, freedom and justice in different activities.
