Kurds and their friends took to the streets in Toronto to mark the International Day of Peace.
The Kurdish Popular Council in Toronto, Canada staged a demonstration on occasion of the International Day of Peace, September 1st. The crowd protested against the isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, the Turkish state’s genocidal war against the Kurdish people and ever-increasing femicide in Turkey.
Kurds and their friends joining the demonstration denounced the Turkish state legitimizing rape, saying that the ruling AKP-MHP bloc protected rapist sergeant Musa Orhan while lawyers demanding justice were left to die in prison.
A statement made in the name of the Kurdish Popular Council called on the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) to fulfil its duty against isolation and torture on political prisoners.
The demonstrators also protested against Canadian government for its support to the Turkish state’s production of unmanned combat aerial vehicles, urging it to not be a party to Turkey’s war crime.
