Protest for Andrea Wolf in Frankfurt

A protest act has been staged in Frankfurt today dedicated to German internationalist Andrea Wolf who was murdered in Turkey in 1998 and buried in a mass grave with 41 PKK (Kurdistan Worker’s Party) militants.

German parliamentarians, human rights defenders from Turkey and Germany and Andrea Wolf’s comrades wanted to examine the mass grave in Catak district of Van on September 16 but denied access to the area by soldiers. The demand was refused on the grounds of the “security instruction” issued by the Governor.

Gathering in Frankfurt in front of the KFW Bank which is an important source of finance in arms trade, the Internationalist Activism Union made a press statement to protest the denial of the visit to the mass grave by Turkish authorities. Remarking that the German bank KFW has offered support to Germany's arms trade for many years through its loan and monetary assistance, the statement pointed out that Turkey conducts the dirty war against the Kurdish people with the weapons and panzers it buys from Germany. The protest action ended with the slogan “German weapons kill worldwide”.
