Rally in solidarity with the hunger strikers in Marseille

Hundreds of people in Marseille protested the isolation of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Hundreds of people gathered in Canebiere Square and marched in support of the hunger strike resistance carrying photographs of Öcalan and HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven.

Activists chanted slogans such as ‘We are all PKK’ and protested the silence of the French government. A group of women joined the march wearing white head scarves to condemn the attacks on mothers of prisoners on hunger strike carried out by the Turkish state.

Women were opening the march chanting slogans like ‘Leyla is not alone’. The march reached Vieux-Port where the rally began with a minute silence to honour the martyrs of freedom. Activists then handed out leaflets about the hunger strike resistance.
