Raqqa churches to be cleared of mines by the New Year

The churches in Raqqa will be cleared of mines before the New Year so that the New Year celebrations can take place in the churches.

The mine clearance organization Roj has started clearing work in the churches of Raqqa. The churches should be cleared of mines before the New Year so that the New Year celebrations can take place in the churches.

The organization has therefore accelerated the clearing operations in the Dêr Meryem and the Dêr Mar Cercis churches in Al-Sukna neighborhood of Raqqa.

Ebdulhemîd Mihemed, a member of the mine clearance team, stated that: "The ISIS gangs have laid mines all over the city. Most were placed in mosques, churches and other sacred places. We wanted to help the people celebrate the New Year in a good way. That's why we have accelerated our clearance work in the sacred places."
