Redhack joins "terrorist list"

The hackers group Redhack which recently carried out virtual attacks against Turkish state institutions and organizations was listed as a “terrorist organization”, daily Radikal reported on Friday.

The decision was taken by a Turkish prosecution office on the grounds that the team had a hammer and sickle logo. Police organization took action following Redhack’s most recent attack which targeted the Foreign Ministry website on Wednesday, said Radikal.

The decision on Redhack came after a prosecution office’s appeal to Security General Directorate Anti-Terror Branch for a detailed examination of the organizational structure of the team. Police sources speaking to the paper remarked that the police actions against Redhack are carried out in the scope of the law on prevention of cybercrimes and defended that the arrest of alleged criminals has been delayed so far.

The Redhack team had earlier attacked the websites of the Interior Minister, Security General Directorate and Police Headquarter in Ankara and published some of the information it had drawn out of these websites.
