Remains of YJA Star guerrilla given to family after 96 days

The body of YJA Star guerrilla martyr, Zehra Eryılmaz was handed over to her family after 96 days and was buried under heavy police presence. Mourners were prevented from attending the funeral.

The body of YJA Star guerrilla Zehra Eryilmaz, one of the 5 guerrillas who fell martyrs following clashes on 8 December 2019 in the Senyayla region between Muş and the Kulp (Amed), was handed over to her family after 96 days.

Upon the conclusion of the DNA tests, Eryilmaz's family and executives of the Solidarity Association with those who lost they loved ones (MEBYA-DER) went to the Forensic Medicine Institute of Malatya and received the body of the young woman.

The remains were brought to Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital and then to Yeniköy Cemetery in Bağlar district after the fulfillment of the religious practices.

Participation to funeral denied

The police cordoned off Yeniköy Cemetery and prevented mourners and MEBYA-DER, TUAY-DER members and HDP administrators from attending the funeral. Eryilmaz was buried by family members.
