Prisoners in Tekirdað and Amasya Prison started a riot and set beds and blankets alight to protest against poor prison conditions on Wednesday night.

The fire in Tekirdað F Type Prison, which is often mentioned with pressure and right violations against political prisoners in particular, was started by two PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) convicts both of whom got serious burnt and were taken to hospital for treatment. Armored vehicles and many soldiers were sent to the prison and deputy public prosecutor of Tekirdað made examinations at the scene after the fire.

Another fire broke out in Amasya E Type Closed Prison as four prisoners set beds on fire in protest against the change of places by the prison administration. Two prisoners suffering from smoke poisoning were taken to hospital.

Fires in both prisons were taken under control in a short time.
