Saturday Mothers: Your justice is no justice

Saturday Mothers held sit in in Istanbul, Diyarbakýr, Batman and the Cizre demanding justice for those forcibly disappeared and killed in unsolved murders.

On the 370th sit-in in Istanbul, Saturday Mothers protested against Mehmet Aðar who has recently been jailed in a prison of his choice after having committed dozens of crimes while operating in the Kurdish region. “The government’s justice means no justice for us,” said the demonstrators. The sit-in was dedicated to Nurettin Öztürk who was murdered while in custody in Ankara in 1984. The press statement was read by Bircan Aker who has witnessed the torturing of Öztürk. “Just like in the past there is no justice, no huma rights in Turkey today. On the other hand for government officials who committed crimes against humanity prisons are made comfortable,” said Aker.

Turgut Yenisoy who disappeared after being taken into custody by three specialist sergeants in 1994 in Bismil (Diyarbakýr) was commemorated in the sit-in held in Diyarbakýr as in Cizre Asya Bulur told the disappearance story of her brother Ahmet Bulur in Kumçatý in 1995. Bulur was shot 95 times by village guards and soldiers.
