Long March from Paris to Strasbourg continues on second day

The second day of the 25-day Long March from Paris to Strasbourg to demand freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, will go to Invalides-République.

The 25-day Long March from Paris to Strasbourg to demand freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan kicked off on Monday from Rue La Fayette, where the Kurdistan Information Office was located. There, on 9 January 2013, Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Dogan and Leyla Saylemez were murdered.

Today the march will go from Invalides to République.

Leaflets describing the chronology of the 25-year Imrali resistance were distributed along the road, and a dossier was delivered to various media, political parties and unions along the route.

The leaflets said that "Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held captive in the Imralı island prison for more than 25 years, has been held without any connection or communication with the outside world for two and a half years. The lack of any information regarding the situation of Öcalan and his fellow prisoners, Hamili Yıldırım, Ömer Hayri Konar and Veysi Aktaş, increases concerns about their safety and health."

The leaflets also underlined that the numerous applications for visit filed by lawyers and the families of the prisoners have remained unanswered for years.

The first day of the Long March ended at the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Center with a public meeting about isolation. The meeting was attended by KCDK-E, CDK-F and TJK-F executives. At the meeting, activists discussed the diplomatic institutions to be visited on the next routes of the march and what more could be done against the isolation.

The Action Organization Committee called for participation in the Invalides-République stage of the march to be held today.
