Severe clashes in Makhmur and Gwer
Strikes by coalition aircraft have targeted ISIS positions in seven villages in Makhmur and Gwer districts neighboring the Mosul city of South Kurdistan last night. Local sources reported that the airstrikes started at 9 pm and continued ceaselessly for three hours.
The Command of the peshmerga forces of Gwer southwest of Erbil has also confirmed the reports of airstrikes, stating that 23 members of the ISIS gangs were killed as result of a raid that targeted a the villages held by the ISIS between Maxmur and Gwer and a military convoy of theirs.
According to the Command, corpses of ISIS militants killed in the villages of Kushaf and Zumar still remain in the battle field, and strikes are continuing at intervals.
The Kushaf hill and the surrounding villages have reportedly been recaptured by Kurdish forces following a major assault Sunday morning.
