As the result of police searching of Siirt Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Branch building yesterday, six people, including BDP City Chair Emin Çam, former Chair Selahattin Cengiz and Central District Organization Chair Guri Toprak, were taken into custody.

Police yesterday also raided the premises of the Mesopotamia Culture Centre (MKM), the Municipal Educational Support Home and the Berfin Women's Counseling Center in Siirt.

Many official papers were confiscated from these institutions and police detained the Siirt deputy mayor, Musa Kurhan; Berfin Women's Counseling Centre staffers, Katibe Demir and Zeynep Yýldýrým; and MKM worker, Zeki Akan.
