People’s Defense forces Press Office (HPG-BIM) reported that six soldiers died as a result of two separate attacks carried out by guerrillas during the operations Turkish army launched in the areas of Hakkari and Dersim.
HPG statement remarked that the guerrilla action in the rural areas of Dersim targeted Turkish soldiers joining the operation which started on 8 May in the region. Two soldiers died and two others were wounded in the attack, noted the statement.
The HPG-BIM statement pointed out that the area was attacked by cobra type helicopters after the guerrilla action and that the operation still continues with the participation of secret units and the support of intense military build-up in most of the posts in the region.
HPG-BIM also gave information about another guerrilla action in the rural areas of Hakkari in the same day. Four specialist sergeants died and three soldiers were wounded in this action, reported the statement and added that the ineffective operation was withdrawn on 9 May.
Nine Kurdish citizens lost their life as a result of a mine explosion on 16 September 2010 in the area of ongoing clashes.
This event in Hakkari was recorded in the history as a slaughter of Kurds who responded to AKP government’s referendum with a significant boycott they displayed. Strong evidences were found out confirming the presence of special and secret units performing contra activities and pressures on the people in the region.
