Sixteen people have been taken into custody in an expansive police operation in the province of Şırnak late Monday night.

Many houses were raided in the neighborhoods of Yeşilyurt, Bahçelievler and Yeni which were surrounded by armored police vehicles during the operation carried out by special operation teams.

Police officers reportedly committed violence against the people in the houses they raided.

Among those detained is also a worker of the Fırat Distribution Company.

The detentions have reportedly been carried out in relation with a molotov cocktail attack that targeted a patrolling police vehicle in Şırnak on 18 October. Detainees were taken to police headquarters.
