Sixteen people arrested today in Hakkari

Sixteen people were taken into custody today in the province of Hakkari as part of the wider and wider KCK (Kurdish Communities Union) operation.

Police carried out simultaneous operations in a number of locations early on Monday morning detaining 16 peole, many officials from BDP.

The detainees were taken to the police station for interrogation.

The investigation into the KCK, which prosecutors claim is the 'urban wing' of the PKK started immediately after the local election of March 2009 and targeted pro-Kurdish parties, human rights organizations, journalists, lawyers, civil societies, students, unions.
