Kurds and their friends attended the night of solidarity organized in Sydney by the Democratic Kurdish Community Center (DKTM) Youth Commission, following a call from the Kurdish humanitarian aid organization Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê.
Green Left Party Senator David Shoebridge sent a message of solidarity as he could not attend the night.
Green Party MP Jamie Parker, City Council member Kobi Shetty, Labor Party MP Paul Lynch and City Council members Nathan Hagahty, Charishma Kaliyanda and Pastor Bill Crews also attended the night.
PYD Co-chair Salih Müslim, KCDK-E Co-chair Yüksel Koç and Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê spokesperson Faruk Akalan attended via zoom.
After a minute's silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the earthquake, cleric Bill Crew performed a religious ritual, while Australian deputies stated that they were here to share the pain of the Kurdish people.
Green Party Deputy Jamie Parker said that the PKK's unilateral halt to military actions due to the earthquake was "a very meaningful and humanitarian act".
The Organizing Committee said that they " will work with the spirit of mobilization to relieve the suffering of our people".
Salih Müslim said that there were many casualties in Afrin and its districts, but no aid was delivered to these occupied areas, and the outgoing aid was seized by mercenaries.
