Kobanê People’s Assembly co-chair Ayşe Efendi said that many places have been retaken from ISIS in Kobanê, and added: “the streets are full of the corpses of ISIS members. This is why there is a danger of epidemics”.
Ayşe Efendi, currently at the border in the Suruç district of Urfa, commented on the recent developments for Rojnews. She said that many areas of the town which were previously captured by ISIS gangs have been liberated by YPG and YPJ forces as the gangs were repulsed.
Efendi stressed that the gangs suffered heavy blows yesterday night after they attacked with reinforcements.
Giving further information about the situation in Kobanê, Kobanê People’s Assembly co-chair said; “YPG and YPJ hold the initiative in Kobanê at the moment. ISIS has suffered heavy losses in the clashes of recent days. The streets of Kobanê are full of the bodies of gang members. There is a danger of epidemic due to that. ISIS is in quite a difficult situation at the moment. This is why they want to take the border crossing into Turkey and to open a corridor for themselves. They have been trying hard to do that for 4-5 days. But they are not succeeding. They have suffered dozens of casualties each day. And because of that they are using chemical weapons from time to time”.
Commenting on the airstrikes of the coalition forces, Efendi said “The coalition forces hit the strategic points of ISIS. If these strikes become more effective, they will have more results. Since yesterday, some munitions dumps of the gangs have been hit, which is of course very good. Hitting these targets prevents support coming from those places”.
Ayşe Efendi also issued a call for a struggle for Kobanê in all the four parts of Kurdistan: "All the Kurds, primarily the ones in South Kurdistan, must fight for Kobanê. If Kobanê falls, the whole Kurdistan will fall. Everyone should be well aware of this. Therefore, our people living primarily in South and North Kurdistan as well as the ones in Europe must step up their actions. They should be in the streets until the last moment. And the Kurdish youth must go to Kobanê and take part in the fight against ISIS in the ranks of the YPG and YPJ”.
