A delegation from Sweden will visit Turkey on 12-16 April to meet human rights organizations, Block deputies and executives of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP).
The delegation consists of journalists and deputies and will meet with jailed publisher and human rights defender Tagýp Zarakolu, Prof. Büþra Ersanlý and ANF reporter Zeynep Kuray.
Besides holding talks with Saturday Mothers, the committee is also expected to meet recently released journalists Ahmet Þýk and Nedim Þener.
Among the members of the committee are also Swedish Left Party deputy Amineh Kakabahev and Green Party deputy Jan Lindholm who nominated Ragýp Zarakolu for the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize.
On the other hand, Swedish Left Party and Green Party will hold a panel discussion at Swedish Parliament on 3 May which will address the freedom of expression and the situation of jailed journalists and intellectuals in Turkey. The panel discussion will also be attended by the Presidents of Reporters Without Borders, Swedish Writers Union, Swedish PEN Club, Swedish Union of Journalists and a representative spokesperson of Amnesty International.
A journalist from Turkey is also expected to attend the panel which will be chaired by famous journalist-writer Arne Ruth.
