Temelli: We will close the black hole on June 24

Speaking in a meeting with the public in Bodrum, HDP Co-chair Sezai Temeli pointed to the economic crisis and said: "The Palace is a black hole. It is high time we close this hole, and we will on June 24."

Peoples' Democratic Party (Halkların Demokratik Partisi - HDP) Co-chair Sezai Temelli is in the Aegean region as part of the election campaign. After attending the opening ceremony of the Milas election bureau, Temeli met with voters in Bodrum in the Yalıkavak Market, where hundreds of citizens greeted him by chanting, "HDP is the people, the people are here".

Temelli gave a speech and said the AKP government has caused poverty in Turkey for the last 16 years. Temelli said as June 24 draws near, the AKP-MHP coalition has started to speak of a "Qandil Operation" and put war policies on the agenda again: "They claim they are just outside of Qandil, about to get in. They say they went up that path, down the other... Their goal is to increase nationalism with this narrative. To put peoples against each other. To build their throne over the pains of this society, this country. We won't let that happen. Kurdish mothers and Turkish mothers will not allow this. They can't build their politics over our children. The day we are rid of him, the day we open the country up, a dignified peace will come. We will face each other under that dignified peace. We will heal all our pain together. We have no votes to give those who feed off of these pains."

Temelli said the government tries to gather points over the Kurdish people in every election cycle: "The elections start, we become brothers. The elections end, they flash wolf signs at us. In Şırnak, Cizre, Silopi, they are Kurdish. When they get on the plane to Ankara, they all turn into wolves. What is it they drink on the plane that turns them into wolves? They say the solution will start after the elections. They can offer no solution anymore. Even if they could, it would not be accepted by us. If there will be a solution in this country, it will be the Kurds, the Turks, the women, the workers, the dignified peoples who bring it. People like them, people who have nothing left to give this country, will go away, from the country, from power. We will come together. We will tear down fascism's wall all together."

Referring to the President's comments, Temelli said, "May Allah bless the people who brought MRI machines to hospitals," and continued: "He should get an urgent MRI scan. He claims he founded every establishment in the country. If you would invite him to your home, he would say he founded it. All he does is found things. He passes through Isparta, says he founded the university. He passes through Antalya, says he built the airport. He says he did everything. He took Kobanê. He moved it from 2014 to 2015. Is there a problem? I called for doctors, they have been working for two days. They haven't been able to diagnose him yet, but maybe an MRI scan can. He just went and said 'These people will sell the country'. What are we to sell? He has already sold off the past and the future of this country. He sold off all the values the country accumulated under privatization. He continues to sell. He is even selling off the sugar factories. Those factories were built by the sweat of workers, with taxes from the citizens. Now every citizen is in debt. The whole country is in debt. There is almost 500 billion dollars of debt. The people have to bear the burden for this debt. The people bear the burden of poverty. We want our rights back. If we are the workers, if we are the creators, we will be the governors. We must protect our future. For that, we need a country with justice. Our fight is the fight for justice. In the judiciary, on the streets, in economy, for all rights, there must be justice. The palace is a black hole. It is high time we close this hole, ad we will on June 24."

Temelli stressed that nature is being killed with thermal power plants, and stated that cancer rates have skyrocketed in Turkey. Temelli said Turkey has become one of the countries with the most cases of cancer: "Everything is without plan, without order. This is the mindset of the looter. They loot the beaches here, they loot people's homes in Afrin. Then they talk about their 'Kurdish brothers'. We all had enough of lies at this point. We have no votes to give to their lies. The HDP will take its place in the Parliament with its MPs, and will organize the solution Turkey expects together with all the peoples of Turkey within the bounds of democratic politics. After June 24, in the coming process, we will produce solutions together on the basis of democratic politics within the process of a democratic constitution. We will end this war. The way to end corruption is to get rid of this government. The way to get rid of poverty is for the poor to take power. June 24 will be our first step in the march to power. We will all go to the ballots on June 24 and protect our votes."

Participants danced the halay in the concert following Temelli's speech.
