Tens of thousands attend the funeral of Soleimani in Tehran

Mourners passed Soleimani's coffin over their heads chanting "death to America".

The streets of Tehran were filled with people joining the second day of funeral procession for Quds Forces commander Qassem Soleimani.

A sad looking religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, read a short prayer in Arabic in front of the coffins of Soleimani, Hashd al-Shabi commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and four other Iranians.

President Hasan Ruhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Chief of the Revolutionary Guard Hussein Salami also attended the ceremony.

People cried while others clutched pictures of the late commander. Mourners passed his coffin over their heads chanting "death to America".

Ismail Haniyeh, the political bureau chief of the Palestinian Islamist organization Hamas, also joined the ceremony.

Soleimani was assassinated in a US drone strike in Iraq on Friday on the orders of President Donald Trump.
