Tens of thousands of people spent the whole night awake at the border maintaining a vigil against the threat of the massacre of civilians in Kobanê in street clashes that have started after attempts by ISIS gangs to infiltrate the town.
While some of the civilians have been evacuated from the city following the entrance of the gangs into Kobanê in the evening hours on Monday, tens of thousands of people continued to stand at the border against the threat of a massacre.
Taking positions at the points close to the border in the villages of Alîzêr, Qop, Bedhê, Dewşen, Etmanik, Boydê and Sıwêdê, tens of thousands of people spent the night awake.
Lighting fires, people listened the whole night to the sound of clashes in Kobanê.
Aircraft bombed the Mistenur hill during the night; however, no information has been obtained regarding the target and the results of the bombardment.
On the other hand, mortar shells fired by the gangs continue to fall on the Suruç side of the border, more specifically on the area around the Mursitpinar border gate. It is observed that Turkey is not applying the requirements of the rules of engagement against the mortar fire of the gangs.
Turkish troops and police forces are in the meantime continuing to attack the people holding vigil along the border in face of the threat of massacre being faced by the people in Kobanê.
The people joining the vigil in the village of Etmanekê Mezin are being intervened and attacked by security forces while more and more people are flocking to the Suruç-Kobanê border to join the growing resistance against ISIS gangs.
