The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil reached week 359

Özsular pointed out that the Kurdish people's only agenda should be resistance against isolation.

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil has been launched in 2012 with the support of Kurdish friends from different countries after a 52-day hunger strike against solitary confinement. 

The action launched in front of the Council of Europe building in Strasbourg on 25 June 2012, is the longest civil action to date.

This week a group of 4 activists from Berlin took over the Vigil. Every week a different group of activists make sure the Vigil continues without any break. 

This week the group is composed by Ibrahim Özsular, Serhat Xinise, Xelil Cicek and Zuhat.

There is only one agenda: Resistance against isolation

Speaking on behalf of the group Ibrahim Özsular underlined that the Vigil will continue until reaching the freedom of Öcalan and reminded that this action has been carried out for 7 years. 

Özsular pointed out that the Kurdish people's only agenda should be resistance against isolation.

Thousands of brochures and leaflets delivered

Activists have taken over the Vigil on Sunday and will continue until next Sunday. They will be handing out leaflets and brochures and explaining to people the reason for the Vigil and also the reason why over 7000 prisoners and Kurdish activists are on hunger strike. 

The activists also speak extensively about Öcalan, his life and work. 

The Freedom for Öcalan Vigil has been launched in 2012 with the support of Kurdish friends from different countries after a 52-day hunger strike against solitary confinement. Hundreds of thousands of people have been informed about the Vigil action inspired by the actions organized during the captivity of Nelson Mandela, leader of the South African liberation struggle.
