Despite the governor's prohibition, thousands of people staged a march to the Madimak Otel where on 2 July 1993, 37 people died following an arson attack by an Islamic group. Pir Sultan Abdal Cultural Association and the Alevi Bektaþi Federation (ABF) have organized the commemoration. Thousands marched behind the banner saying, "We did not forget and we won't forget Madimak".

Unions KESK and Eðitim Sen also took part to the event. The march is followed by several police tanks and men.
