Tens of thousands of people who gathered in front of the BDP Mersin building at noon hours today displayed a sit-in action for two hours. Mersin Independent Candidate Ertugrul Kürkcü, BDP Provincial Chair Cihan Yýlmaz, BDP’s Akdeniz Municipality Mayor M. Fazýl Türk held a two-hour talk with Mersin Governor Hasan Basri Güzeloglu and Provincial Police Chief Arif Oksüz get permission for a press release at Cumhuriyet Square and for a sit-in act. When the talks however remained inconclusive, the mass marched to the Tas Bina chanting slogans “PKK is the people, people are here”, “Fascism will be buried in Kurdistan”, “Salute to Imralý”.

Speaking after the march where the mass closed the way to traffic and was blockaded by mobile force tanks, BDP Provincial Chair Cihan Yýlmaz said; “YSK’s veto is illegal and cruel. We strongly condemn this decision and we are not going to retreat from streets until the veto is recalled”.
